played for 2 hours and had 3 crashes when trying to pick items up. attaching json file. re0_randomizer_init.zip

I will look into it. What difficulty did you select? Do you still have the logs? Did you retry to pick up the items and did it freeze again?

I picked wesker mode from an old save file, it was probably normal difficulty

Certainly, here's the revised message:

I watched the video you posted of your gameplay and noticed a magazine in the room with the bunk bed and dead person that wasn't there during my session. You had several mods activated, which I can’t enable at this moment. I plan to use the configuration you provided and aim to reach the end of the train level, where your game froze as you were picking up items in the train’s control cabin.

I’ve only tested the randomizer in normal mode so far, where it expects all items available in this mode to be present. Although additional items shouldn't cause a problem, there's a risk of softlock if the randomizer swaps a key item with an item that is absent due to hard mode or other reasons. (But just fyi...I doubt that this is the reason it crashed).

Regarding the savegame, was it created while using version 1.1.0 of the emulator? The randomizer serializes its state concurrently as the game is saved, and a corresponding savegame must be in the current working directory for the game to load successfully. If the save file of the randomizer is outdated, there’s a high likelihood of the game crashing.

I also want to mention that the randomizer remembers which items you dropped and which ones you picked up, ensuring dropped items won’t be randomized again. If you picked up an item, it could be a combination of your local state and outdated saves which is difficult to reproduce. This data is also serialized when you save a game.

If you’re facing issues with your randomized session, you need to restart everything:

I hope this is helpful and covers all the necessary details.

@AlbertFnWesker do you still got the savegame (slot2) and the other working directory files? The one you loaded here: https://youtu.be/BZE0H5d6dC0?si=kpFZKMULrmUMeBqY&t=2245 . That would be very helpful!

EDIT: Too bad, I see they are overwritten at 46:49. If this happens again I'd really help if you can export the savegames, make a copy of the working dir and send them to me.

Well, I'll try to figure out what happened anyway.

@AlbertFnWesker I assume this is caused by the item balancing function. I updated the code and created a new release candidate, which is currently in testing phase.
