[Help needed] Accidentally removing Library Location #676

Closed hankehly closed 8 years ago

System: OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 Quiver Version 3.0.3 (88)

Explanation of events:

Friday:

Moved (using bash commands) Quiver "Library Location" from A to B A) ~/GoogleDrive/Documents/Quiver.qvlibrary B) ~/Documents/ Deleted A

Sunday:

Opened Quiver, and all notes were present Created more notes and quit Quiver.

Monday:

Opened Quiver app and library is empty (0 notes)

No log messages exists for the filter "Quiver" during Sunday, yet other logs (i.e. dictation logs) show that Quiver was used on Sunday.

Because the original Library Location (A) was deleted, no backup exists.

Question

1) What happens when Quiver.qvlibrary is forcefully moved to another location without using the in-app "move library" feature? 2) If (1) were to occur, what happens to subsequent changes to Quiver notes? 3) Is there any way for me to retrieve my data (i.e. history/cache)? (about 10 MB of notes)

Update 2016/08/15

It looks like the Quiver Library Location will automatically update itself. In my case, I believe my Library Location became ~/.Trash/Quiver.qvlibrary after deleting above (B) By emptying the trash on Monday, the ~/.Trash/Quiver.qvlibrary was lost.

Solution

A backup of ~/.Trash should contain the lost notes.
