9 years ago some comments on the above (which I may edit as I think of things):
- the coordinate arrays can get complex if there are 'holes' in the geometries (think areas that fully enclose other areas), though i don't think we run into many if any of these in NZ
- having said that, we shouldn't really have to change any geometries if we stick to official boundaries anyway. likely we will only change the "properties" array.
here is an example of what the GeoJSON looks like for that example of the US population map we looked at in the boardroom: http://leafletjs.com/examples/us-states.js
