Flickering screen upon opening Slide via the icon #3445

Slide version: 6.7.1 Android version: 10 Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 9

I have recently re-installed Slide. Within a few weeks, it developed an strange behavior which largely prevents me from directly browsing Reddit. Slide has since been suffering from this behavior for over a month.

When I open the app via tapping on the Slide icon, either in the Apps list or from the Home screen, the app will launch and fill the screen with black. Upon filling the screen Slide will being flickering, rapidly covering over my navigation bar (meaning my screen is totally black) and then revealing it again. This flickering will persist until I tap the circular Home button to return to the Home screen. It will not stop if I press the triangular Back button.

I am still able to view parts of Reddit using Slide. If I open a Reddit link using Slide, the app will work normally and show me the post. All media types appear to render as normal. In this state, I am able to upvote, downvote, leave persistent comments, and load full threads (should I tap on the notice bar). I am even able to browse the subreddit the post was made on, by tapping on the subreddit name at the top of the screen.

Does clearing the app data fix this? I have the same phone model but have not personally experienced this issue.

No, clearing app data does not fix this behavior.
