No worries.

Peace from sydney. :(

I think it's over now - hopefully everyone is okay. :-(

It ended approximately three hours and 20 minutes ago from now. Unfortunately, two hostages believed to have passed. At least 5 more injured. Potentially three of those critical. I think one officer was also injured in the final gunfire.

Over the course of the ordeal, 5 hostages escaped. Then about three and a half hours ago, a couple more hostages escaped. This was shortly followed by a movement by reportedly 7 hostages who then fled the building apparently in one go.

If those latter numbers are true, that would be 14 hostages that were able to escape. Personally I could confirm about 9 hostages in total who I saw on screen escape.

But that latter 7 hostage escape caused the lone gunman to open fire on a hostage and then subsequently the police to move in and end it. Gunman believed/confirmed to be killed.

I have been following for about 18 hours straight now. Realise that this is ot, but just updating in case you wanted to know what I do.

It's 5:40 am here, been awake for greater than 24 hours, but am trying to go to sleep now. Peace.

Devastating two days for everyone. First Sydney and now Pakistan. Stay strong everyone. Pray for peace. Cheers. On 16-Dec-2014 12:09 am, "jumpwah" notifications@github.com wrote:

@jumpwah, thanks for the updates - BBC news wasn't that great at covering it, it seems that the media were very confused about what was going on. I am glad that most people escaped - but it's terrible news that some died.

@neo1691, I just saw that on the news too, truly devastating. :-(

Those children in pakistan were apparently doing their finals too. :-( Can you imagine that happening while you were concentrating on an exam?

Not taking anything away from these horrible events but I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks and good work for the transition to cottage and (consequently) 'abstracting' away keybindings to sxhkd. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

It is awful, I wonder what Pakistan's government will do?

Thanks, I am pleased with how it has turned out - everything feels 'neater'.

vyp commented 9 years ago

I don't if this will cause the end of the pakistani taliban or not, but regardless the children, the teachers, however cannot be brought back. Extremely depressing how anyone can even think of committing such heinous acts.

HarveyHunt commented 9 years ago

I saw some discussion on the news that the government of Pakistan hadn't been particularly dedicated to getting rid of the Taliban - I wonder if things will change after this.

vyp commented 9 years ago

The government has been quite lax with dealing with terrorists, but I don't know how their 'movement' (the taliban) can continue to be allowed to exist after this.
