In this PR I added:

A script that installs dependencies automatically for mern-starter when using mern init <app>
Updated node versions on travis.yml
Updated all dev and regular dependencies
Added package-lock.json
Commented or removed all mentions or availability of variants not sure this is a good idea
Updated readme commands to reflect changes

Looks fine, although the linter in TravisCI is very upset… is it configured correctly?
