3 years ago Observations: I'm on fix/firmware_crashes (this repo) and feature/enable_close_colliders_only in the Unity repos. In Doom crashes occur most often when I enter the stairs room. I took out the rails which reduced the crashes. I took out the rooms (no more freezing of the handle when switching rooms) which seemed to resolve it, at least I had a 6 minute run (only in monitor room, zig zag room and boss room though). I died in this run which is why there weren't any colliders anymore. Then I had another crash in a corner of the boss room in the next run after 2 minutes. I have the feeling that the crashes occur mostly in the armor and stairs room. Maybe there are more obstacles/more changes?
To test:
- [ ] in the ManyObstacles scene where do we experience crashes? Can we create a complex room in which we can play for 10 minutes without crashes?
If we know at any point that other complex scenes work (which would indicate it's a Doom issue), test the following:
- [ ] Disable all Rails
- [ ] Disable Room Colliders
- [ ] Only move within specific rooms (safer ones are Zig Zag, Monitor & Boss Room)
- [ ] Try moving into the notches in the stairs room and the boss room (there it crashed for me most often)
- [ ] Reduce Radius of Sphere in which obstacles are created
- [ ] Simplify walls
