Replacing disqus comments with Github comments #97

http://donw.io

I’ve been considering removing comments from this blog for a while; mainly because the site doesn’t trigger much discussion and I didn’t like keeping the overhead of Disqus around. After looking into Disqus load-time behaviour I was pretty shocked what I was forcing on people loading the site (although you really should be using the likes of Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin).

you could also quickly maybe migrate the domain in disqus maybe? https://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/286778-migration-tools https://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/912627-domain-migration-tool

But what I'm also really a friend of is indieweb features like that one: https://indieweb.org/jekmentions Can see how it works on this page for instance.. https://marcthiele.com/notes/after-event-blues. safely stores all social mentions at the article. like that.

I really really like those indieweb features - only concern is that they are too big and crowd out the bottom. @marc00s - can you take care of disqus? Do you have the account? (we should probably migrate it to our shared account tool) which I also have on my todo list

Or we drop discuss all together ... and replace out with github comments (I think @marc00s posted a link regarding this)

github comments are great. the indieweb webmentions can be shown also smaller / smarter, thats a problem design office can solve ^^ maybe both is good

webmentions to show peoples discussions outside our blog github comments to offer people to discuss at our blog

happy to drop disqus and try github comments. disqus never really integrated great.
