Similarly with sentences that tell us something "could reveal": " Modulating the nuclear function of CD40 and c-Rel could reveal new mechanisms in LBCL pathophysiology and provide potential new targets for lymphoma therapy . "
Next candidate: sentences starting with "We evaluated". Not too sure though if marking all of these as false is actually the right thing ... Maybe we should at least abstain from labeling "true" if sentences start like that.
More: "The purpose of this study was to determine ... "
"It is still unclear whether ... "
"It would be of interest to know whether ..."
" We hypothesize that a similar mechanism could be present in this patient with del22q11 .2 syndrome associated with a JAG1 missense mutation acting as possible modifier factor for TOF . "
" Seventy-eight patients with Burkitt 's lymphoma and seventy controls from Ghana were typed for HLA-A , B , C and DR antigens , to determine whether there is an association between the HLA system and Burkitt 's lymphoma . "
Sentences ending in a question mark. " Can complexed PSA be used as a single test for detecting prostate cancer ? "
" Further studies are required to clarify the role of IL-6 in stroke . "
" To evaluate whether ( a ) Wnt5a expression in pancreatic cancer and malignant melanoma cells might be associated with constitutive levels of Toll-like receptor 3 ( TLR3 ) and/or TLR3 signaling ; ( b ) phenylmethimazole ( C10 ) , a novel TLR signaling inhibitor , could decrease constitutive Wnt5a and TLR3 levels together with cell growth and migration ; and ( c ) the efficacy of C10 as a potential inhibitor of pancreatic cancer and malignant melanoma cell growth in vivo . "
" ... we expect(ed) ... "
Lots of sentences start with "To investigate if X is linked to Y" (as part of an "Abstract" form in many bio papers). These sentences don't tell us anything about X being actually linked to Y.
