Cant handle more then 1 exe after recent update without crashing #317

hello everyone,

i was always able to play with 4 accounts at once. After the recent patch i can only handle 1. If i try to open more then one account, everything freezes,my CPU goes crazy AF. Any suggestions or anyone having the same issue? I have the suggested settings (delay between launch,etc.) but nothing helps

Make sure you're using the latest build (7195). The previous build could cause excessive CPU usage while multiple clients were waiting on the launcher (prior to clicking play).

Use the task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) to find out what is maxing out the CPU, or you could be running out of memory, which would have a similar effect until something crashes.

Ensure your graphics settings haven't changed. Specifically ensure the frame limiter is not set to unlimited, otherwise GW2 will use as much CPU as it can get.

This could be related to the bug some people are seeing after the patch that causes GW2 to freeze. CEF is also no longer being shared per account, which means while 1 account is active, each further launch is creating a new copy of CEF, which is ~300 MB each. You can revert to using CoherentUI by adding -usecoherent to the arguments under Settings > Guild Wars 2 > Launch options.

I'm not experiencing high cpu loads (yet). I too cannot start more than one copy of GW2 using GW2Launcher build 7195 anymore though. After starting Account 1 the log for Account 2 is as follows:

What does GW2's crash log say?

There was a problem introduced in the patch that can cause GW2 to freeze/crash on character select. Apparently updating your graphics drivers will fix it.

Seems to be CEF related. Using CoherentUI seems to workaround this problem. But this won't be a long term solution as CEF will - one day - completely replace CoherentUI.

It looks like you're using localized execution set to binaries and have an addon (dxgi.dll) in the bin64 folder, but aren't actually loading any addons. That file is likely from the addon manager, and since it's not loading anything else, it's causing the crash. Remove that file.

Oh, yeah, some time ago I used the addon manager to load arcdps. I removed the dll and now it is working again. Thank you!

hello everyone,

i was always able to play with 4 accounts at once. After the recent patch i can only handle 1. If i try to open more then one account, everything freezes,my CPU goes crazy AF. Any suggestions or anyone having the same issue? I have the suggested settings (delay between launch,etc.) but nothing helps

No issues here. I run two normal and one steam. I forgot how to set up two steam accounts to work together though.

That addon manager always causes crashes with me.

Graphics drivers are up to date.

I had to roll back my graphic drivers to the MS certified ones. "Up to date" can mean many things. I DO NOT use Nvidia "Newest" drivers. FYI
