[Proton/Linux] "Automatically enters your email/password and login" doesn't work #327

Closed Kagukara closed 1 year ago

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

I know Gw2Launcher is built for windows, but before the CEF update the application was working great running it through Proton on Steam. Since then I have been unable to get the "Automatically enters your email/password and login" to work. I have changed in the "Entry method" to "Characters via post" in "Tweaks" but that didn't work either. (builds 7254, 7195 and 7075 do not work)

While looking at the issues I found this issue linking to this fork at the bottom. Using this fork Gw2Launcher now works for "Automatically enters your email/password and login", both with and without the -usecoherent argument (have to use -usecoherent for the TP to load without errors though).

Is there a reason why the launcher from the fork works while the main repository does't?

Healix commented 1 year ago

That fork is just an old version. It should be the same as the beta from April 18:

https://github.com/Healix/Gw2Launcher/commits/master/Gw2Launcher/bin64/Beta/Gw2Launcher.exe

I can guess what's causing it. Try build 7089. 7195 is when I made a change to a function that has had a history of problems under Linux.

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

Yea, build 7084 worked (exe). Couldn't find build 7089.

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

Found 7089 (exe), this also works.

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

Will this be something you'll fix in a newer build?

Healix commented 1 year ago

Yes

KTkabo0m commented 1 year ago

Yes

Good. I have been checking back every month to see if this has been fixed yet as it is annoying to have to type in my login each time when I log into another account.

This is about Linux. A year ago when auto logins broke because they changed CoherentUI, you mentioned you were using Windows 10. This shouldn't be a problem under Windows. Are you saying it was never fixed back then, or are you now using Linux and it's been broken for ~2 months (since build 7089)?

To see what's happening, right click any account > Tools > Log, then try launching. What about CoherentUI (-usecoherent)? Does that work?

I had been using one before today that broke, waiting for a newer version to come out to fix the issue.

Reading the last few posts here again I now I have version 7089 and that works again. image image

Was build 7254 (latest) not working on Windows? If so, what does the log show?

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

This is now fixed with build 7255, thank you.

Only works with -usecoherent in the launch options arguments though.

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

The "Automatically enters your email/password and login" now works with -usecoherent, but I am no longer able to launch more than 1 account at a time.

Closed this issue a little preemptively, so I'll reopen it. If there is anything I can send to help with the issue, please let me know how to gather it.

EDIT: "To see what's happening, right click any account > Tools > Log, then try launching." I'll send the information when I can login.

Healix commented 1 year ago

7255 had no changes related to this. It's identical to the 7254 with a fix for it crashing when renaming screenshots was enabled.

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

Just retried 7254 and the "Automatically enters your email/password and login" works but only with -usecoherent. Not sure why it didn't before. But it doesn't allow for more than 1 client to launch at a time.

Try the beta version (build 7331).

There was a minor offset error in the 32-bit version for supporting CEF, which only applies to Linux. Not being able to launch multiple accounts was because I was using a fallback when the information wasn't available, but newer versions of Wine have it partially implemented, so it was using incorrect information.

@KTkabo0m You can also try the beta version for the new buttons. You can change the action of the launch daily/all button to launch 1 account at a time, or you can enable a button to limit the number of active accounts to 1. Note these settings won't save.

Kagukara commented 1 year ago

It now works, but it waits for a few seconds between launching accounts. The [13:14:54][18]: Waiting for modules to load... section in the logs.

I launch Gw2Launcher via steam with either proton experimental or GE-Proton8-6. I may need to enable modules in the winecfg maybe, or is this a Gw2Launcher issue?

Next beta version (build 7333). This won't fix it, it'll give me additional info about the modules. CoherentUI and CEF may load different modules, so launch one, then remove -usecoherent and launch another.

Gw2Launcher was launched via Steam with Proton Experimental

I'll have to remove the module check for Linux, since there's nothing. Its only purpose was to detect when GW2 stalls while loading character select.

Re-download the beta version (build is still 7333); it'll no longer check.

Nice, all working now. "Automatically enters your email/password and login" working as normal, I can launch multiple accounts with/without -usecoherent as an argument in launch options, and no delay from Waiting for modules to load.... Thank you, I'll close this issue now as its been fixed.
