Did you try to figure out why the shortcut didn't work? If Gw2Launcher.exe vanished, best case security software deleted it, worst case your disk is failing.
Blue screens are caused by hardware or driver failure. You can check the event viewer for errors that may narrow down where the problem is.
GW2 is going to have higher CPU and memory usage than other games. Running 2 clients is going to double that, acting like a full system stress test. You should run individual stress tests to narrow it down.
ill check the event viewer, but as i said new comp, built myself, cpu is new, ram is new, mobo is new, nvme is new... i do have a few of my old hdd's plugged in but gw2 folder is on the new nvme drive.
well... i wanted let you know that i had a couple of things going on.... had my ram swapped out. i guess i had the wrong ram, i had the ram for intel on an amd build. and had the xbox gamebar erroring out...
i have ran multiple instances of through gw2launcher and so far so good. i have had some issues here and there where i would crash and get prompted to send the error to anet. and thats with no arcdps installed either.
@Healix
arcdps_lastcrash.log arcdps_lastcrash.log been crashing.... i log in.... crash. i have removed arc and all other addons. and same thing. i had to launch the game the old school way.
apprecciate your help and guidance in trying to resolve this issue(s).
im about to delete and setup my accounts again through gw2launcher, but i just did that when i setup up my new system.
thank you
You're using localized execution and have an old version of arcdps applying to the account under C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2Launcher\3\
i had removed arc and i kept crashing even afterwards. if i use it now, i continue to crash. should i not be using localized execution? im sorry im not following on that aspect.
Localized execution gives accounts their own "Guild Wars 2" folder. If you remove arcdps from the main folder, it's still going to be under the account's folder.
The crash log shows an old version of arcdps here: C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2Launcher\3\d3d11.dll, which is causing it to crash.
i had removed arcdps from the 3 folder and i was still crashing after the addons were removed. so should i unselect localized execution?
also i had no addons on my 4 folder and that account was also crashing. so both were crashing.
but i had also at one point updated arcdps/know thy enemy, and i was still crashing, so i removed them again after the crash and had still continue to crash.
What does the crash log say when not using addons?
You can delete the Gw2Launcher folder (C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2Launcher) to simply have it recreated for you. It shouldn't be crashing if you can launch GW2 outside of Gw2Launcher without crashing.
and here's the crash log without addons, launching through gw2launcher. and this also happened to me a while back, that i deleted the 1 & 2 folders and re-added my accounts and im back to the same result. i was about to delete them and re-add them again. but obviously im either setting up something incorrectly. more then likely im setting something up incorrectly.
The log is showing a file for a model in Gw2.dat is corrupted, and since GW2 is in shared mode (read-only), it can't fix it. Right click the account > Selected > Launch (normal) and it should automatically repair.
It sounded like you weren't having a problem launching GW2 outside of Gw2Launcher? It should have had the same problem, assuming the same character, but would have automatically fixed itself. If only localized execution has this problem, you have multiple real copies of Gw2.dat under C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2Launcher. Search that folder for Gw2.dat and delete all of them; they'll be re-linked on the next launch.
outside of gw2launcher, that is correct i had no issues with launching the game.
and i'm sorry to ask this again, but should i not be using localized execution? by the way, thank you for taking the time to help, really greatly appreciate all the work and time you put into this amazing program.
so also, i did what you said with deleting the dat file and its been launching fine, no issues, and i even was able to add back my addons and again no issues so far.
Localized execution is needed if you wanted to customize addons per account, or if the addons don't support multiple clients (some addons will crash, fail to load or load with default settings when an account is already running). If you wanted the same addons with the same settings on all accounts, localized execution wouldn't be needed.
Since deleting it worked, you must have had a real copy of Gw2.dat in there. Note copying it or deleting the original Gw2.dat will cause that.
i usually run arcdps and know thy enemy for my accounts. and occasionly run blishhub but have my separate api in blishhub. i remember on my last comp build that arcdps wasnt working properly unless i had localized execution enabled. but that was the old comp.
question: since my gw2 accounts in gw2launcher are named 3 and 4 is it possible to rename them to 1 and 2? does that affect antyhing?
The ID of the account can't be changed. If you want to reset it, you'll have to delete all accounts, then restart Gw2Launcher.
well.... @Healix
its been happening again....

so i removed the addons of arcdps/know thy enemy....went into my gw2 folder > gw2launcher > 3 and deleted the gw2.dat file
launched the game under selected, launch (normal).... logged in..... logged out.... and then relaunched the game via gw2launcher with the addon's BUT before the game launch it prompted me to verify/repair and i said no.... it launched and i seem to be okay.
so is there something that im doing wrong? when i exit/logout of the game, i just normally 'exit to desktop' .... apologies if i seem to be a nuisance but i greatly apprecaite you taking the time to explain things to me.
and again...

I'm assuming it's the same cause, since it's the same general error (the crash log from arc doesn't show the details to confirm it).
Worst case, your disk is failing and random files are being corrupted. Since Gw2.dat isn't being modified outside of patches, for Gw2.dat to keep getting corrupted between updates means the problem is spreading. You could scan the entire disk for errors, but it's only a matter of time (in my experience, once this starts, you only have a few months).
To scan for errors (it'll take a while), open a command prompt as an administrator (search the start menu for cmd, right click and run as admin) and enter (right click to paste):
chkdsk C: /R
Localized execution works by giving multiple paths to the same set of files. You can check these paths by opening a command prompt and entering:
fsutil hardlink list "C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.dat"
It should list all of the paths like this:
\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.dat \Guild Wars 2\Gw2Launcher\3\Gw2.dat ...
When you run into this problem again, run this command first. If you haven't been launching GW2 outside of Gw2Launcher, it should still show multiple paths. Run this command again after confirming you can launch GW2 outside of Gw2Launcher, and it should show that there's no longer multiple paths. This will confirm that the original Gw2.dat was corrupted and replaced. If however it still shows multiple paths and only Gw2Launcher is crashing, it means other software is interfering with GW2's disk access, but if it was security software doing it, it would normally cause a read error instead of GW2 reading corrupted data.
my comp set is all new aswell. with an 2tb nvme. brand new.
stupid question: but i dont have gw2launcher on the same drive, will that affect gw2launcher?
i have gw2 on the main drive (C: drive) and gw2launcher on (D: drive)
if i run gw2 standalone, no crashes. i noticed that the path links to a tmp file.... is that normal?
It doesn't matter what drive Gw2Launcher.exe is on.
Is the screenshot of the command prompt when it's working through Gw2Launcher, or when it's crashing? What it's showing is how it's supposed to be, so if only Gw2Launcher is crashing when it's like that, it can't be Gw2.dat that is corrupted.
What path is a tmp file? The screenshot is for Local.dat, which is automatically named #.dat when it's stored under an account. It's showing 25455, which means you've had an unrealistic number of Local.dat files, implying the settings have been corrupted at some point.
Make a shortcut for GW2 and give it the -sharearchive option. The target should look like this:
"C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe" -sharearchive
Never launch Gw2-64.exe directly, only use this shortcut. This option puts GW2 in read-only mode, so it'll crash if an update is required. The next time launching through Gw2Launcher crashes, try using this shortcut. It will prevent GW2 from automatically fixing any problems, so it should now crash. If it doesn't crash, but Gw2Launcher does, try repeating this for one of the links: C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2Launcher\3\Gw2-64.exe
If this is a common enough problem, make a copy of GW2 (don't include the Gw2Launcher folder) on the other drive and switch to using it to see if it still happens.
so ive been trying a few things.... so when the game would crash... i would delete the .dat file.... and replace it with an origianl copy..... then it stops crashing.... but as of late quite a few ppl in game have been crashing. i have no addons installed.
over the holidays i upgraded my comp to something better. in short its pretty a new system.... and when i tried to multibox with my gw2 acct's using gw2launcher i crash.... blue... encountered an error and my system reboots. its only when i multibox.... i use gw2launcher to launch my game.
everything is updated. latest driver yadda yadda.... im not sure whats going on.... a friend of mine is thinking that i may have faulty ram... but no issues playing other games, watching movies, streaming to twitch .... its only when i multibox my main acct and my second acct.
btw healix happy new year and thank you.
also forgot to add in that i was using an older gw2launcher (7084) but after the recent crash my desktop shortcut couldnt find the path to it. so i downloaded the latest 7254.... i havent tried lanuching a multibox with it conmsidering beforei didnt have an issue with the 7084 on my old system. but somehow i did with the new system.
