Assessment of Wikimedia 2030 game #15

As @CliffordAnderson requested, I checked out https://archive.org/details/wiki-strategy-game .

The game itself isn't very interesting - it's basically a series of screens where you check boxes to see if you know which of the options are actually part of the Wikimedia 2030 plan.

So content-wise, it has little to do with our project. It is somewhat interesting in the complexity of the interface because it tracks your progress and gives you three "lives" (you can miss question three times). Also, you can choose a difficulty level. The screen layout and navigation buttons are also considerably more sophisticated than the simple links we are using. I looked at the HTML and they are using SugarCube. but I think there is also some custom Javascript. So interface-wise, it's something we could aspire to, although having every screen be the same checkbox questions could be more interesting.

I am going to save the source code for this Twine in our docs directory for reference. Its redistribution is allowed according to the terms of use in the HTML. You can run it here, although all of the images aren't there. But it's easy enough to just download the .zip and run it locally to see what it looks like.

I am going to close this issue now, but we can refer to this Twine for reference, since it's also in Sugarcube and we can open it in Twine to see how the (complex) graph is set up and also for ideas about how to do buttons, embed images, etc.
