Gather links to help pages #67

Talinum commented 3 years ago

I put an Excel sheet with some Spanish help links in the Box root directory for an example.

The filename is Robby_help_links_Spanish.xlsx (my excuse: it is early after a holiday).

@baskaufs is this useful and does it need changes?

cylew commented 3 years ago

@baskaufs @Talinum I'm confused about what to include in the For further information of the Get help lesson. I translated what was listed on the page:

WikiProject Books briefly explains the FRBR model and its use in Wikidata

WikiProject Periodicals separates out metadata properties for periodicals, organization, volume, issue, and article

Describing people (Stanford) includes recommended properties for people

But I'm considering adding my Chinese glossary to the list. Greg, are you not including the items provided by Steve? Please advise.

baskaufs commented 3 years ago

In my opinion, it doesn't hurt to include any references that people think are relevant. Maybe we need a single spreadsheet to be used for all languages, with different columns for the labeling in the various languages. The URLs would be the same for all. Also, we should have a column for the passage/page that the link should be added to. We could start with Greg's spreadsheet and just add the other columns.

The Chinese glossary is a great idea. Are we talking about this: https://github.com/HeardLibrary/twine-for-wikicite/blob/main/reference/Glosario_Wikimedia.md or is there another document in Box somewhere?

baskaufs commented 3 years ago

Sorry, just got to @cylew 's email with another Excel spreadsheet. Maybe that one and @Talinum's can be merged.

cylew commented 3 years ago

@baskaufs @Talinum I will work with Greg to merge the spreadsheets. Yes, adding [(https://github.com/HeardLibrary/twine-for-wikicite/blob/main/reference/Glosario_Wikimedia.md)] will work. I also like to add to the Get Help lesson and the Intro lesson. I don't know how to add the links in this message so I try two different ways to embed the urls. Hope one of it will work. :)

cylew commented 3 years ago

Wow, neither worked. The url was not displayed in the previous comment is https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Introduction/zh

baskaufs commented 3 years ago

@cylew Thankfully, when you put any URL in the comments, they just show up as links automatically. You can click on the "Preview" tab to confirm that they are actually showing up the way you want

cylew commented 3 years ago

@baskaufs Thanks for the tip. @Talinum The url was not displayed in the previous comment is https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Introduction/zh

@baskaufs @Talinum I uploaded the English and Chinese FFI spreadsheets to Box this morning.

baskaufs commented 3 years ago

I think this duplicates #64 so I'm closing it, too.

Should we have a link to this?

https://dashboard.wikiedu.org/training/wikidata-professional

If so, where?
