If Warsong Commander enters play first, Tundra Rhino cannot gain attack from its Aura. #755

Probably a side effect of fix #666

Well if Tundra Rhino enters play first, warsong could give him attack.

So a theory from NGA is that is the order of Aura: Tundra Rhino enters play first, aura trigger first,so warsong could detect the charge, so gain attack. Warsong enter play first, the aura of Tundra is after warsong's Aura, so cannot gain attack.

So one of them need a special priority to fix, or may-be-intended?

Confirmed in 8.4

Definetely not intended imho.

Does not happen with Southsea Deckhand tho. So there must be some difference between Southsea and Rhino... Afaik, Southsea is an aura tho, just like Rhino...

Kybxd commented 6 years ago

Still happening in 10.4. In fact the order of Warsong and Rhino only affects whether Rhino gains +1 Attack. As for any other beast, it's the order of Warsong and itself that matters.

Jetz72 commented 5 years ago

Seems to be affecting Southsea Deckhand now too.

I play the commander + one deckhand each turn (turns 4 & 5 respectively). No bonus damage was assigned from combat either turn. I realize deckhand charge is conditional; however I did have a dagger equipped on both turns.

Hooray for consistency; finally this game is playable?

Edit:

hearthstone screenshot 08-17-18 18 57 13 Rightmost 3 minions were played from left to right. Note that the one played before the Commander gets the buff while the one after now does not.

At last this game makes perfect sense.

Fixed?

Jetz72 commented 5 years ago

Unless there was a hotfix in the last 48 hours, no, I was just being silly. A similar interaction that strangely didn't exhibit the bug now does. So they are now "consistent" in that both are broken in the same way.

A similar issue here. The minion in hand is buffed by Val'anyr. One Corpse Widow was played before Val'anyr buff was applied, one after. Only the second one applies.

This is possibly affecting enchantments as well now. It's not too clear which order everything was cast by Tess in for each of the cases shown, but there are clear cases of a minion buffed by Charge both being buffed by, and not being buffed by Warsong Commander.

So is there a mechanical difference between "minions with Rush" and "Rush minions"? Why does this work with minions that gain Rush via an effect, but Warsong Commander doesn't work with minions that gain Charge?

Just asking for rules clarification, because I assumed this would only work with cards that have Rush actually printed on them, similar to how N'Zoth and Hadronox only resurrect minions that have Deathrattle and Taunt printed on them.

I'll bring up to the team about Warsong Commander not working with cards like Warrior's Charge. Sounds like a bug to me. It works with Spiked Hogrider, so I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Cards that affect minions on the Battlefield like Strongshell Scavenger or Rallying Blade care about their current state. If a Taunt minion or Divine Shield minion loses their status as a Taunt or Divine Shield, they no longer benefit from cards like that. Because you can see the minions on board, it makes sense that the cards do or don't affect them because you can see they have those keywords.

When you start digging into dead minions we care about the base minion, partially because you can't see them anymore. Tracking things you can't see kind of sucks, so keeping it simple is nice. Balance also plays into it - when you play Hadronox or N'Zoth, we can know the limit to what people can resummon and we can cost it appropriately. Druid being able to give any minion Taunt with Mark of the Wild blows that out and makes it so we have to make a weaker card, to account for all the extreme edge cases. We'd rather give you a powerful card that you can use. Granted, we still make specific corner case cards like Star Aligner, because that appeals to certain players, so that doesn't mean we're against making weird cards that make you stretch. :)

Forgot to add this at the time: Tested Charge spell vs Warsong Commander back in this thread: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/20769767264#post-5 Charge spell must be played before Warsong Commander. Playing it on a minion that was in play prior to the Commander is not sufficient.

Seems to work the same in 13.0. https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/20770086835

Not to suggest that the issue as a whole is fixed, though: hearthstone screenshot 02-06-19 22 27 21 Order: Darkness, <-Charge, Deckhand, Commander, Deckhand, Zombie, <-Charge.
