Sending this from my personal email. I believe you already have my IDEO mail.
As I said on Twitter DM, I spent a few minutes poking around today and a few questions emerged. I have also been taking notes on my experience and am more than happy to share once I launch a project through the software.
Here goes one of the BIG questions for me...
Terms & Conditions- Content Visibility & Hosting
First off, this is great and I'm excited to see how it grows. Before uploading a project I would love to know a bit more about your Terms & Conditions of engagement, including where content is stored, who has access to that content. My biggest concern, if I'm honest, is that you're a consultancy and I'm a consultant working at the competition. How do I know that you're not poking around in there looking at my content. I know the case can be made for the value of content is in the synthesis, but I would love to know how you're handling this. I would love to try this on my next project, but want some assurance that the content will actually be private.
Data Use
This also opens up another thought for me around... using data collected across multiple projects you're hosting to gain insight into patterns that can be applied to your own consultancy work (an invisible information/'revenue' stream). Is this apart of the terms and conditions I'm agreeing to? Also, I don't see the terms and conditions for use anywhere. Am I missing something?
Privacy
Building on the first two comments/questions- Can you tel me about how this complies with government privacy regulations for example, HIPP/PHIPA. What are you doing to ensure that sensitive content will not be leaked and put me in jeopardy of breaching privacy agreements with my clients and their users (interviewees)?
VP
It seems like this project has legs! Gotta love a good tool! The online research world is starting to get some traction. I would love the VP of FieldGuide to hit me in the face whenI land on the page. When I'm looking for tools I always ask myself, how does this compare to the tools I'm using now or might also be looking at- what's the VP of FieldGuide? Not sure if you're VP is not taking (which I like) and/or quick shares (which is feature present in almost any cloud system) or the fact that I can upload my prototypes or the combo. Feels like a combo to me, so it might be interesting to think about what you see first when looks the features on the home screen- what's the biggest game changer? Another question for me is... and this will probably emerge as I start to use it- What's going to make me pay more for this (yearly/monthly/on project basis) if I'm already paying for Invision where I can currently comment and share the research I'm collecting. Also, Is there an enterprise level offer? So many questions here around your model, but I imagine that's top secret for the time being.
Just a few early thoughts, most first reactions so take what you want from it. I've got a running list of a few more things, which I'm more than happy to share as I start to use the tool. Heck, if I wasn't working for a consultancy I would be more than happy to offer up my services as a advisor or consultant for this project. Really great work and nice to see you guys shipping stuff!
I think the enterprise level is sending them an appliance that can be wholly private data-wise, but occasionally calls the repo and asks for software updates.
