DCS Additional Viewports showing red error in Profile Editor #484

When trying to resolve Status Report issues in a DCS profile that contains DCS Additional Viewports Interface, apply patches shows message "Not all patches were installed" but the viewport patch files are written to DCS locations with success as noted in the details.

It seems the issue is with the CDU_init.lua patch file. It couldn't revert the one that was there. AS a work around I copied a previous one back to CDU_init.lua and then was able to apply patches without issues.

No i don't need the report. Did you do what i did to resolve it by manually updating the file then apply patches?

I'll look into this today. Does anyone happen to have the broken CDU_init.lua file still? I'd like to see what couldn't be reverted.

No, I read that in your post but wasn’t sure how to do it so I just reverted to the previous version of Helios and everything worked fine :)

Unfortunately not, as I reverted to the last version, but I could reinstall the one with the cdu issue and grab that file for you if you need? All I need to know is the location of it and I’ll get it for you :)

I can't reproduce on a fresh installation of DCS open beta with Helios 1.6.5100.0000. All the patches apply and revert cleanly. At the moment I don't think there's anything wrong with the patch files or the Helios code.

It's likely that the problematic lua files have been modified by something else outside of Helios, so the patching system can no longer find the right part of the file to change.

An easy fix for this would be to use Eagle Dynamics' "Repair DCS World" feature which will move all modified files to a backup directory and replace them with clean versions. After that is done you should be able to apply the Helios patches again in the normal way. Doing this will of course clean (and back up) any other mods that have been applied to the DCS install directory too.

@PSYKO-nz if you do want to post the file so I can compare it to a clean one it would be

Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\CDU\indicator\CDU_init.lua or Mods\aircraft\A-10C_2\Cockpit\Scripts\CDU\indicator\CDU_init.lua

depending on which version of the A-10 you are having this problem. Could you also let me know the versions of Helios and DCS you are using too please?

fresh report and both versions of helios mentioned above and both versions of the a10 are in this folder, if you need more info or help let me know cdu error test.zip

I should also note that as I described above, uninstalling Helios and re installing the previous one (1.6.5013) returns Helios and all profiles to working condition

I also should add that I’m not running any mods or changes to the a10s other than Helios

I use a mod manager so I uninstalled the mods, did a repair and then used Helios and now it is OK. I am using the latest version of Helios that just came out. Helios 1.6.5100.0

Thanks for the extra info @Todd1215 @PSYKO-nz @sobe1205 , as a result I can see what's happening now and I can reproduce the problem reliably. I just need to discuss with the devs the best way to prevent this from happening again in the future.

The fix for now is to make sure that the files being patched are as ED intended before starting (and thus how they were when we made the patch files), any means of doing that is fine but the DCS repair function is probably the most reliable.

The fault happens when there is one fewer empty new lines (lines with only a carriage return/line ending) than there should be above the point where the patch should be installed in the file.

in the case of the CDU file this is OK
