At least some of the existing MDI JP2 files are missing the CRVAL keyword. These JP2 files are old, and so it is possible that the FITS files they were made from were missing the CRVAL values.
Recently downloaded MDI FITS files do have the CRVAL* keyword. Therefore, the MDI JP2 FITS files should be remade.
