Gboard has a floating mode where the keyboard detaches from the bottom of the screen, floats, and can be resized.

This is excellent for tablets as it allows for placement of the keyboard where is needed and you can keep it the same size as the phone, rather than oversized taking the whole bottom of the screen.

It's also nice on phone when it's in landscape mode. Right now keyboard hide nearly all screen in this mode. gBoard solved this nicely implementing floating keyboard.

+1. I switched to an Android tab from my old iPad and noticed the lack of this feature. Although split keyboard does make tying in portrait a bit easier, a floating one would really solve the issue.

+1 Yes please add this, its not only easier to type using floating keyboard but also the background image won't stretch so bad!

+1 Got tired of gboard inaccuracy with Swype so I swapped to this and would really like this feature added. It's the one thing I miss from gboard.
