Is there any chance to see the Scan Text option from GBoard?

It is a feature, basically taken from Samsung's keyboard, that appears and disappears randomly from GBoard. It integrates a minimal version of Lens to quickly copy real world text, stripping out the image recognition and other Lens features.

I don't know if it possible from a technical point or even feasible from a privacy standpoint.

I have no clue about the lens framework, but if it works without closed source libraries, additional permissions or much increased APK size I'm ok with having it added. In principle such a thing should be possibly even with privacy in mind, but I don't know how it's done in the lens framework and since I don't use play services, I will not implement it myself.
