Backspace does not delete highlighted text

Describe the bug Highlighting text and tapping backspace deletes the character before the highlighted text instead of the highlighted text.

Note, the behavior seems to work if I highlight text, type something over it, then highlight text and hit backspace. So repetition may be difficult.

To Reproduce

• Highlight text
• Press backspace
• Text is still there

Note: This can sometimes be reproduced by highlighting text then tapping Shift, too.

Expected behavior Highlighted text is deleted.
