I've seen quite a lot of people occasionally experience issues with core or side missions where they get stuck on a certain part of it after doing some specific steps (which usually are not named).
This can range from getting stuck on collecting certain items since they won't appear again, no interaction prompts appearing while for others it does, not playing a mission for 1 year then returning to it to be softlocked after changes, you would name it.
I was thinking to just like board missions, add an abort button for core missions. It could solve a lot of issues if the player would be able to replay the missions from the start. A great example would be getting stuck in belly of the beast , collecting the final blueprint part when doing the board mission sunken salvages. The board mission only seems to appear once if the side mission is active and never again. Certain things can be done to despawn the eaten chest which would cause a softlock.
This may also require some tuning in terms of quest items. Some missions already automatically delete quest items once completed or aborted, some also allow the player to remove them if spoken to the correct NPC. But it should be made sure that all quests which give quest items would either have these items removed from the players inventory if aborted or talked to a specific npc.
