They could work simillary to perks, you first choose a base (derived from default constellations) in which there are slots for gem-like thingies.
These gems would affect the constellations in various ways.
add enchants and effects that refraction table would provide to items
enhance and determine ritual effect
enhance and provide effects to mantles
change the night cycle when the constellation shows (always present constellations could be possible)
These constellations might be powerful, but could require very long grind to make them perfect.
