Current Firmware erased, new firmware not loaded, stuk at 5% progress #5

Hi,

Today I tried to update the firmware (6.1) of my SN_L, which (miserably) failed. After having the intitial firmware ereased progress did not go further than 5% (waited 30 minutes). Also after several trials: https://www.dropbox.com/s/exjg87n3a0ofv8h/Upgrade_Failure.PNG?dl=0

Here a video of what happens exactly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4kf6r1itujc8h69/20191113_121008.mp4?dl=0

Now my SN-L is broken: it won't start since no firmware is there anymore: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kl28zannosa8bbh/20191113_122022.mp4?dl=0

System: Windows 7

Please provide a fix.

You are using the wrong update software. Use the one here.

Hi,

I tried to upgrade my flight controller with the updated software in the link you provided, but the result is the same. Progress bar remains on 5% forever, my firmware is still gone and sn_l useless:

A film can be provided if needed.

What do you suggest me to do?

Regards,

Urs

Problem still remains - stuck on 5%, firmware remains erased: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3qigjb5pyg3jm3z/Upgrade_Failure_2.PNG?dl=0

Are you selecting SNL from the dropdown menu?

I am unsure what could be going on if you are using the correct software and firmware file, and following the correct procedure. I have not had one fail like this out of many.

Hi,

Needless to say that I selected SNL from the dropdown menu (you can also see this in the screenshot). Today I also tried it on a different windows PC with windows 10 (instead of 7) and I had the exact same problem (stuck on 5%).

The question now is what do we do?

My primary concern is that my device is broken / useless for which I would like to have a replacement.

Having said that, I'm also a developer, so to a certain degree tech-savvy. if you could give me a debug version of your installation tool, which logs what's is going on I could you send you the logs to help you identify the root cause. The chance is pretty high that others might also have the same problem and resolving it helps anyone. So, I would be willing to assist for some new trials if you're in for that.

Thank you for your reply.

It should not be bricked. The STM32 is difficult to brick. Something is definitely wonky though. I suspect maybe a bad USB to UART adapter (the programming adapter it comes with). If you have another one of some type (FTDI etc.), you can wire it up and try. Any USB to UART adapter will do.

I have no affiliation with Lefei, so I dont have access to the source for the app. I am just an experienced user trying to help you out.

Thanks for your help and reply. Another adapter might be worth a try. Thanx!

Finally I received a new adapter cable and guess what: the new cable solved my problem. The upgrade worked like a breeze.

Thanks once more for your advice and for the others out there should the upgrade fail get yourself a new upgrade cable and off you go.
