Feature request - Notification indicator for the Volla Phone 22 #138

I was told to write my feature request here.

Basically, I came back from a lunch break and, out of habit, I checked if the LED was blinking to know if I had received any message or any call. Upon seeing that it wasn't, I guessed that I didn't receive anything.

Later, as I opened the phone and checked the notification tab by sliding the top panel down, I noticed the envelope was green, so I did receive some messages.

It would be nice if the LED could be used as an indicator of some kind to let us know that we received something, because notifications don't remain really long on the locked screen. That, or the notifications should remain on the locking screen until removed/read.

In the mean time, as a workaround, I configured my lock screen to allow sliding the top panel down even on lock screen, in order to be able to check for notification (the envelope is hidden by the camera notch).

Hello,

Any progress? I bought the VollaPhone22 and not another one because it had a notification LED.

Do I have to open another issue for the charging notification led?

Thank you.

@Bolly So far the LED is exclusively used as charging indicator (it lights up when the phone is plugged in).

If you want some kind of "workaround" to know whether or not you received a notification some time ago, you can keep reading. Otherwise, the screen lights up to let you know that you received a notification, for about 3 seconds.

I realised the reason the notification envelope is hidden behind the camera notch for me is because I've set the phone to display battery percentage, which pushes the envelope to the left of the top bar. If I enable or disable some other things (screen rotation lock, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.), the envelope will be pushed so much to the left that it will become visible again.

By carefully choosing what you want to enable or disable, you can make it so the envelope always remains visible. That will allow you to check for notification by pressing the power button to light up the screen and see if the envelope is green. It might not be as fast as just checking the LED, but it gets the job done for me in the meantime.

Hello @pnguyen9 ,

The led notification that I have on other devices (BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu edition and BQ Aquaris M10 FHD Betatester ) indicates me with a steady green light when it is fully charged.

The convenience of the indicator is to know if there is something to "pay attention" from afar and also without having to unlock it.

P.S. With the envelope I have no problem, I see it. But I did move the network indicator because I couldn't see it.
