Transform HelloZeroNet from user into an organization #882

Open jancborchardt opened 7 years ago

Currently it's a bit strange that HelloZeroNet is a user with all the repositories in that account.

To get more contributors on board and showcase the project better, it would be good to transform the user into an organization.

HelloZeroNet is Tamas, Tamas is HelloZeroNet. There is only one person. :(

He is the programmer, UI designer, support, writer and spokesperson. Everyone else you see here is one from that big list of contributors who have pull requests merged into the main branch.

It's not a bad idea...it would look more professional and be in line with other projects in the space (see ipfs, bitcoinjs, etc.).

Here's some docs on how to do it.

But it is ultimately up to @shortcutme

I know, and that of course doesn't scale. ;)

He is the programmer, UI designer, support, writer and spokesperson. Everyone else you see here is one from that big list of contributors who have pull requests merged into the main branch.

And that's exactly why converting it to an organization would be a simple move to push the community more and make it feel more like a real & serious community project. :)

contributors don't need to be considered as free employees after the organization is created. thats' the case for most of so called open source projects hijacked as a so called "foundation" or "community" blablah. If you think that it's more serious to create an organization I would say no, since today a hierarchy is obsolete, thanks to the internet open source tools which developer and contributor teams can easily manage any serious project without any leader or investor. But maybe Mr jancborchardt (http://jancborchardt.net) has more interest that zeronet becoming an "organization"? Could you elaborate why it will be better for you?

@madovsky not sure why you expect this improvement suggestion - which is based on my experience from open source communities large and small - to be motivated by personal gain.

I have no stake in this project and simply see that it could be more inclusive and better off with trying to foster more of a community of regulars than staying a one-person-project. Which it already apparently is, but that's not very visible so it makes it seem a bit exclusive and less welcoming to newcomers who might be interested in contributing too.
