Instead of listing R.methodsS3 under Depends, list it under Imports such that it is not attached by default.
Requirement
This would require most packages depending on R.oo to also import R.methodsS3 explicitly. This work has been in progress since February 2012; I've asked the maintainers of all reverse packages to make this updated. All packages have been updated accordingly, except plmDE whose maintainer hasn't responded despite multiple requests. (I'll allow this package to fail on CRAN by notifying the CRAN team about it).
