Describe the bug

Download is aborted after exiting Heroic Games Launcher or paused and starts from the beginning. No download progress is saved like on v. 2.11. The bug seems to exist since v. 2.12. So games like "Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™" need to be downloaded continuously without a pause.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to 'Library'
  2. Start downloading e.g. 'Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™' via Epic.
  3. Wait a moment to receive a download progress like 2%.
  4. Leave Heroic Games Launcher. Click yes on pending operations.
  5. Start Heroic Games Launcher.
  6. Game starts downloading at 0%, no progress has been made.

OR

  1. Go to 'Library'
  2. Start downloading e.g. 'Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™' via Epic.
  3. Wait a moment to receive a download progress like 2%.
  4. Pause the installation.
  5. Question: Do you want to keep the installation? Select "yes".
  6. Resume the download within Heroic Games Launcher.
  7. Game starts downloading at 0%, no progress has been made.

Expected behavior

Save download progress is saved like on v. 2.11.

I understand that if the download is canceled in the middle of downloading a big file, the whole file is discarded because the file has to be started from the beginning.

If that's the case then we don't have much to do (we need to find some way to show that information to the user, but I don't know if we have access to that since the install happens in one of the other tools we run: legendary/gogdl/nile, and we only parse the output logs)

can you verify if that's what happens? if you look at the install directory you should see if files are getting added there. if no file is already in that folder by the time the download is aborted, then that won't count. if there are files downloaded already and it starts from 0 it could be a bug in legendary or in the way we display the progress

Thank you for your quick response. As you suggested, I took a look at the install directory.

It was empty and the progress at the Heroic App I launched from the SteamOS desktop mode, showed 0%, which seems logical, I guess. I started the installation and files were added. I paused the installation at 2%. The files persisted in that directory, so far, so good. I resumed the installation, the files persisted and the progress went even further. I closed the Heroic App on desktop mode without pausing and started it again. The download progressed automatically, like it should. I went back to Steam Gaming mode and launched the Heroic Launcher from the Library. Paused the installation, started the installation again, paused and exited the Launcher. After starting again, the download resumed automatically like on the SteamOS desktop mode. So for now, I am not missing any download progress like the days before. I don't know, what kind auf hickup it was, but my problem seems to be solved :)
