Hello, it's not clear what this should achieve, if you think it's necessary please add a comment and reopen the PR.

You are totally right, I was not aware that this PR was pushed to the main, I thought this change was only applied in the fork I made. However, for me the existing URL is not retrieving the channel by username when I use the username after the @ symbol. For example: https://www.youtube.com/@flutterdev. Not sure if this is the correct usage of the function.
