From Amazon:

We have an important update regarding the Amazon Product Advertising API (“PA API”). In order to improve the efficiency and ensure that the features offered by the PA API are most relevant to its users, we will be restricting the PA API access to only Amazon Associates, effective July 3, 2017.

You have been identified as one of the PA API users who might be impacted by this change. In order to ensure PA API use, you will need to have a valid Amazon Associates account using the same email address used for the PA API account. Please review the frequently asked questions below, and refer here to sign-up for the Amazon Associates Program.

Q. I already have an Amazon Associates account but under a different email address. How can I link my existing Amazon Associates and Product Advertising API accounts?

If you already have an active Amazon Associates account, please add the email address used for creating the Amazon Product Advertising API account as a primary or secondary email to your existing Amazon Associates account. Once the email address is added successfully, you should be able to continue accessing the Product Advertising API.

If you have Amazon Associate accounts in multiple marketplaces, please ensure to add the email address used for creating the Amazon Product Advertising API account as a primary or secondary email to all the existing Amazon Associates accounts.

Q. I already have an Amazon Associates account and a PA API account. How do I verify that they are linked?

Verify that the email address used for creating a PA API account is updated as your primary or secondary email address in your Amazon Associates account.

Q. I already have an Amazon Associates account and linked to PA API account. How do I verify that there will not be any impact?

You will receive an error if your Amazon Associates account is closed. Verify the status of your Amazon Associates account on Associates Central.

Q. What is the impact if I do not take action before July 3, 2017?

Your access to PA API will be revoked and you will receive an error code AWS.InvalidAssociate and error message “Your <> is not registered as an Amazon Associate. Please register as an Amazon Associates at <>".

Q. When do I need to take action?

You need to ensure you have created a valid Amazon Associates account and linked to PA API account by June 30, 2017.

Emails have been updated so this should no longer be an issue.
