[Title]: Cooking rework

[Implementation]: Each ingredient that can be made into food would have a certain effect, or a component of a certain effect. Each effect has apreparation level, such as level 5 Dephase, that makes you drift through walls yet no longer able to control your direction, given by a food containing bluespace tomatoes Dephase A) and bluespace bananas Dephase B), or level 2 Downsizer, given by a dish containing mouse corpse (Downsizer) making the eater a midget temporarily. Multiple ingredient effects must be added in order, i.e. adding steel-cap log (Brain Damage Martial Art B) then adding a potato (Brain Damage Martial Art A) not temporarily giving the consumer the brain damaged martial art. Ingredients could also have negative effects, unavoidable in certain combinations and possibly working at all preparation stages.

These aren't based on chemicals, though, and cannot be isolated. Effects are based on bites, stronger effects needing more to act and weaker ones less.

A dish is started at level 1, by adding the required ingredients into bread or cake, on top of a slice of bread for a sandwich, into a burger, or directly into salad and soup which also works in their own modifying way.

One raises a dish's preparation level by cooking it in various ways, frying it raising level 1 food to level 2, making a kebab with it raising it to level 3, letting it fry in the void of space or making a cake with it and some chocolate raising it to 4, and throwing it into lava or cooking it by radiation to level 5. These are sequential, one must go through all former preparation types to reach the higher ones, lower level ones not working at higher levels due to being overcooked. (A bread slice sandwich with a mouse, a bluespace banana and a bluespace tomato prepared to level two would make you a midget upon consumption, and if prepared to level 5, dephase you.)

Making soup or salad would modify the food in different ways. Soup increases the volume of gulps for multiple uses, with a indirectly proportional increase in gulps to activate the effect, in example making it so a Dephase dish can be used three times but require eating four gulps from each, resulting in a full stomach after a while. Salad makes the food work in less gulps while keeping the amount of usages, making one able to quickly gobble up a Fart Amplifier twinkie salad to regenerate your ass/superfart hearable all over the station.

All ingredients would have a few variables, these being effect (Dephase, Scream Amplifier, Fart Amplifier, Knock-backing Screams, Animal-attracting Pheromones etc), satiety (amount of nutriment in the final food, negative effect as it would fill you up more), preparation (level of preparation required to unlock the ingredient's effect) gulp threshold (Amount of bites/gulps required for the effect to work, generally larger for more beneficial effects and smaller for the trivial ones) chemical container (Some food may impart a certain quantity of chemicals to the finished dish at the effective level, can be negative or positive).

Some possible ideas for effects: Level 1: Comfy: Nugget. Makes sleeping on a bed with a bedsheet heal you very quickly for a while. Trail Mix: 4no Raisins and Scaredy's Private Reserve Beef Jerky. Makes you leave a trail like a jetpack behind you, also makes you lose less nutrition per step for a while. (possibly just make it give you nutrition per step to counter the loss)

Level 2: Extra Punch: Fried floor tile and Ketchup. Makes your punches deal 10 brute for a while. (almost like a toolbox's 12 brute.) Graytide Assist: Fried cable wires and fried budget insulated gloves. Makes you immune to shocks for a while.

Level 3: Limber: Fried plastic sheet and a banana. Lets you ventcrawl while naked. Losing the effect while in a vent busts you out of it with a bang. Fallout Adapted: Uranium and a fried gas mask. Makes you heal from radiation and not mutate but has a 15% chance to make your skin fall off, transforming you into a krokodil zombie without any brute damage inflicted.

Level 4: Anaesthetic: From poppy. Makes you able to act normally in soft-crit. Shocking farts: High power energy bar and ambrosia. Makes your farts shock you with tesla bolts for 30 burn damage, no matter your protection, and everyone nearby for 15.

Level 5: Dephase: Bluespace banana and bluespace tomato. Lets you noclip through walls, but gravity no longer affects you and you can't push off walls to change direction. Friendship: High power energy bar and a fried hug box.You shock non-insulated people you hug and you have the shocked skeleton effect overlayed on you.

[Why]: It would make food more worthwhile while also making it require work to achieve the more beneficial effects. [Resources]: I don't think any are needed, possibly the old gum/jawbreaker machine? Just for more operations available.
