Start from a stock fair phone 2 and document the steps required to set up the productivity phone on LineageOs starting with to these instructions: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/FP2/install

Installing a custom recovery using fastboot

• [ ] Verify it is a Fair Phone 2 using: adb -s 123abc12 shell getprop ro.product.model.
  • [ ] Cancel the installation otherwise.
• [x] make sure the pc has: adb
• [x] verify adb is installed.
• [x] make sure the pc has: fastboot
• [x] verify fastboot is installed.
• [x] enable usb debugging on device
• [x] verify usb debugging is enabled on device
• [x] download twrp
• [x] verify twrp is downloaded
• [x] connect phone to pc
• [x] verify phone is connected to pc
• [x] on pc run: adb reboot bootloader.
• [x] Verify output of command.
• [x] Wait till device is in fastboot mode.
• [x] Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify the pc finds the device in fastboot mode by typing: fastboot devices
• [x] Verify output of command.
• [x] TIP: create a While loop that: verifies whether the fastbook is responsive via the USB. This check can be usefull because some phones are said to occasionally be buggy in fastboot mode. Do this checking using a command like fastboot getvar, fastboot boot and/or fastboot flash.
  • [ ] If the phone is not responsive to such commands within a certain time limit, ask the user to connect the phone through another usb port.
• [x] Warn the user to not disconnect the phone right now as it will flash the twrp boot over the phone. Ask for explicit confirmation to not disconnect the phone.

• [x] Flash the image onto the phone with command:

  fastboot flash recovery <recovery_filename>.img

• [x] Reboot the device in recovery mode.
  • [x] Either find a command that makes the phone boot into recovery mode, or:
    • [ ] Power off the device (either manually or automatically).
    • [x] Ask user to hold: Volume Up + Power button while it is powered off, until the boot logo appears
• [x] TODO: Verify the device is in recovery mode. And wait until it is in fastboot recovery mode.
  • [x] Do it in a while loop with a sleep in it.

Installing LineageOS from recovery

• [x] Curl the lineage package for the fairphone: https://download.lineageos.org/FP2
  • [ ] Or build it manually using: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/FP2/build
• [ ] Verify the device is still in recovery mode from: Installing a custom recovery using fastboot.
• [x] Ask user to tap: Wipe.
• [x] Ask user to tap: Format Data.
• [x] Go back to main menu and select:
  • [x] Advanced Wipe,
  • [x] then select
    • [x] Cache and
      • [ ] Write post setup assert of log file.
    • [x] System partitions
      • [ ] Write post setup assert of log file.
    • [x] and then Swipe to Wipe.
      • [ ] Write post setup assert of log file.
  • [x] Enable the user to choose between Fairphone OS and LineageOS
    • [x] Switch to sideload FairphoneOS when it is selected.
  • [x] Sideload the LineageOS .zip package:
  • [x] On the device, select “Advanced”, “ADB Sideload”, then swipe to begin sideload.

  • [ ] (And/or) or do a adb reboot fastboot followed by a fastboot format userdata (before sideloading) to make the lineageOS installation successfully.
  • [ ] Verify the format that is currently implemented selects all options for its formatting.
  • [ ] TODO: create a while loop with a sleep that waits until the adb recovery is out of recovery mode (from sideloading), before proceeding, such that it can perform the post sideloading formatting.
    • [ ] Create command that exits the adb recovery mode by terminating the sideloading mode once it is completed. This can probably be done with: adb sideload /dev/null.
    • [x] Verify the post setup formatting is completed automatically and successfully.
• [x] adb reboot to complete installation of LineageOS.

For switching back to Fairphone Open OS (not Fairphone OS):

The 19.11.2-sibon-24df0be9-ota.zip file from this link seems to be sideloadable. (But results in an infinite bootloop, most likely due to erroneous/insufficient formatting before and after sideloading the zip/OS.
