Found in base branch: main

### Vulnerability Details

Apache Commons BCEL has a number of APIs that would normally only allow changing specific class characteristics. However, due to an out-of-bounds writing issue, these APIs can be used to produce arbitrary bytecode. This could be abused in applications that pass attacker-controllable data to those APIs, giving the attacker more control over the resulting bytecode than otherwise expected. Update to Apache Commons BCEL 6.6.0.

CVE-2022-42889 ### Vulnerable Library - commons-text-1.9.jar

Apache Commons Text is a library focused on algorithms working on strings.

Library home page: https://www.apache.org/

Path to dependency file: /SpringCRUD/build.gradle

Path to vulnerable library: /home/wss-scanner/.gradle/caches/modules-2/files-2.1/org.apache.commons/commons-text/1.9/ba6ac8c2807490944a0a27f6f8e68fb5ed2e80e2/commons-text-1.9.jar

Dependency Hierarchy: - spotbugs-4.5.3.jar (Root Library) - :x: **commons-text-1.9.jar** (Vulnerable Library)

Found in HEAD commit: 014d9f58defe2595a6d0a583ac3f8c28d16a66ab

Found in base branch: main

### Vulnerability Details

Apache Commons Text performs variable interpolation, allowing properties to be dynamically evaluated and expanded. The standard format for interpolation is "${prefix:name}", where "prefix" is used to locate an instance of org.apache.commons.text.lookup.StringLookup that performs the interpolation. Starting with version 1.5 and continuing through 1.9, the set of default Lookup instances included interpolators that could result in arbitrary code execution or contact with remote servers. These lookups are: - "script" - execute expressions using the JVM script execution engine (javax.script) - "dns" - resolve dns records - "url" - load values from urls, including from remote servers Applications using the interpolation defaults in the affected versions may be vulnerable to remote code execution or unintentional contact with remote servers if untrusted configuration values are used. Users are recommended to upgrade to Apache Commons Text 1.10.0, which disables the problematic interpolators by default.
