can find cask "mellow" in git repo but can not search with "brew search mellow" #79032

General troubleshooting steps

Description of issue

when i type :

brew cask install mellow

it gives me:

Error: Cask 'mellow' is unavailable: No Cask with this name exists.

when i type : brew search mellow it gives me:

No formula or cask found for "mellow".

However, when i open one of the link in the closed pull request, i found the mellow in the cask repo:

then i can actually install mellow with

I wonder why i can not just install mellow with brew cask install mellow

That’s a revision, an old version in git, not the current state.

That said, the cask does exist, so it seems your installation is borked. I recommend you rerun brew update-reset && brew update, and if that doesn’t fix it, do brew untap homebrew/cask. If that still doesn’t fix it, you might need to reinstall Homebrew.
