Protection in case Github dies #31

I worry about Github, I know from experience these Web 2 companies have no cash.

So Git is decentralised, people can easily change the master branch to wherever we put the new Homebrew master branch.

Still I can't help but feel it should be automated as part of the brew update command. So we'll need a domain we control and a simple webservice on it.

GitHub is the best place for the "main" repo. It would be pretty easy to build in a fallback mirror for brew update. I'd just something up on repo.or.cz or Gitorious and not worry too much about it.

Yeah this is a relatively minor priority issue. I am just aware of the massive lack of faith in Homebrew that would result from github failing. It would be basically impossible to regain user confidence.

considering github isn't a 'cashless web 2.0 company that only gets its money from ads if that' id personally be more worried about repo.or.cz or gitorious' stability (as they DONT make money, and DONT have ads.) github has cash flow, and a lot of large companies paying out more than donations per month to use it.
