HIP 17: Maximise donations ROI with DeFi automation #17

Open juanfranblanco opened 3 years ago

All tokens before releasing to charities, or for charities that do not decide to convert to Fiat should maximise their ROI using low risk DeFi yield solutions. (From homepage)

From @jaerith "So, as discussed in previous channels, I think that there should be some consideration to the idea of forking the yearn-protocol project. In that way, a vault could be created for a specific charity, where the interest generated could automatically result in payments for the delivery of goods on a timely basis."

@jaerith Yes that sounds great, I have missed the fork part.

I do like that each charity makes the decision to allocate their purchasing pot to get some yield whilst purchases are being finalised, although my original thought was to have all of the funds

In the same way there are other options like rari capital, and in the future there might be others. Rari also has a 0.5 % exit fee. I was talking to @transmissionsdev about it and they are willing to help (well you help and you are part of this :) ).

Edit: Note that the 0.5 % is not an issue (people need to eat), it may becomes an issue when is a constant movement of funds, so it may need to be thought properly.

My general concern is the funds insurance, which will be for the donations funds (currently in gnosis safe but in the future they will be probably reside in their own smart contract) and if the charities manage their own yield how is that insured for them too. (Not forgetting specific DeFi platforms)

Now suppliers and providers for charities will surely benefit of having a yield if the want to keep their funds in crypto.

Another thought was that homeless will keep the funds until release for payment, this way the yield will be distributed across all the global charities as opposed to a specific one, as we may end up with donations made directly to specific areas (countries).
