Verify V2 Control Board Commit #46

Open 3dGriff opened 7 years ago

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

Verifying .v2 control board will update when complete see issue #44 for background

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer have you conducted a test print print of the V2 cover in PET? I'm trying to track identify if an issue exists.

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

@3dGriff Cover v2 print test done. No major issues. Recommend printing with support for finish quality on Filleted edge. but possibly not necessary with settings and calibration. img_20170218_100229 img_20170218_100237

I've gotten side tracked in the code, @BotleHewer can you take a look at the R2 base in commit d5df66964ae1c2c9afdfe23c2159d26bf9bfe89c and modify your base to include mounts as well.

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

@3dGriff in assembling my test of the SnapMountable version of the board case & mounts, the cover port hole for the endstop wires was identified as misslocated. A new version(v3) has been up replaced on the repo, but has not yet been printed an/or verified.

While functionally working as planned minor improvements to the snap mounts also planed.

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

Thanks @BotleHewer can you upload the images of your test. Also, have you made any progress on the base that includes the mounts?

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

Perm-mountable version of base uploaded. Unable to test as my printer is down due to nozzle clog.

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer got it, I'll run it tonight.

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer After using the case on one of the dev machines I think it needs a latch of some kind. Thoughts?

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer Tested base, looks fine.

I suggest the mount to Y Carriage 2020 fastener location should be more accessible, the current design makes turning the M4 tricky.

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

Updated for Wrench access on Y mount https://github.com/Hooklet3d/OdinOne/blob/Mentos_RC/Parts/OdinOne/Mods/Controller_Mount/BrainBoardBase_permMountable.v3.stl

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

@3dGriff I have an idea of how to add a simple "latch". more of a snap tab which should effect material cost & print time only slightly. Working on design now will have prototype design later today.

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

@3dGriff @J-Skepp Just noticed an issue with the Controller Board cover in current iteration that will make it not fit controller board base properly. will fix while working on adding the snap/latch system.

Current cover on github should not be printed.

BotleHewer commented 7 years ago

@3dGriff Updated files in MC repo of updated controller board case system. Fixxes applied as well as snap latch added.

Needs Verification

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer got it thanks.

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer after putting together the last kit I noticed some weakness in the mount points (to the machine) on the base. Also, I had to 'shim' the mount point to get the M4 for lock properly into the hammer.

Any thoughts on how we could make this stronger. My thoughts are that the mount points could just be made thicker.

3dGriff commented 7 years ago

@BotleHewer as mentioned in issue #61 the stepper drivers do seem to be causing issues with this lid. I think its best to move forward with adding space above the drivers. Seeing the issue in kit testing at the moment.
