To get a logcat:
Activate USB debug, then connect your phone and on a linux terminal type:
sudo adb logcat
You could do it in windows too i think but i never tried...
Do you download the apps over wifi or 3G/Edge ?
Did you tried downloading the *.apk file for these apps and install it from
your SDcard (IE not downloading the app through the phone).

ok i give it a try , I cannot select format sd-card from the phone menu so i
did with
pc. I wiped my phone again and flashed it when I first did it, couldn't figure
out how
to load the Google apps package figured it might be the reason some apps wont
install
I still cant get the apps to installed, copied them to the newly formatted sd
card
rebooted the phone with the recovery option and the phone just reboots and
comes up as normal even if I select reboot with boot manager the phone reboots
as normal

For the google apps, you must have on first boot after flash the following file
right on the root of your SDcard:
Try downloading that file :
SHA1SUM Name of the file
654616cf0798e18e1819b48c88ae77cc876255b5 gapps-mdpi-20100930-signed.zip
and check if you get the same sha1sum as mine before putting it on the card.

I tried to install android-vnc-viewer too and got the same result. Install
failed.
(from titanium backup or from marcket)
So I had to install an other vnc client wich works well but it's not
android-vnc-viewer ...

The SHA1SUM checked out for the file, I rebooted right after the first time
it came up after the flash I tried the standard reboot, recovery and boot loader
and each option just reboots the phone without any options or touching the zip
file
formatted the sdcard and the apps zip was the only file on it

Google Skymap is the only app I get this error on, all google apps installed

Is a vold issue.. how i know? I found a fix by turning off the sd card in vold
the .android_secure folder was not created correctly...I guess... and
applications that need to be installed on the sd card does not work like google
sky map, unmount your sd card and try to install again.. that work for me

ahh cool thanks for the fix,
Do you think that's my issue with the gapps.zip file not loading on reboot as
well
and
do you know how i can format the sdcard from the phone when that option is
grayed out?

Accepted !
As far as i know, you can't format your SDcard straight from your phone.
You got to use a computer or another device capable to do so !

I had a similar problem with 'Official XBMC Remote'. Installation succeeded
after retrying with SD card removed. Thanks, danyel.nerv!
