This may well be related to AMSS.
Did anyone of you flash lg's froyo with the modified kdz by raburton? That
updates the AMSS, and that may be needed for gps.
Original comment by polyth...@gmail.com
on 9 Feb 2011 at 4:12
No. I used the images of boot and system from lg.
LG's official firmware includes an option to download a file valid for a week
with ?satellites location? that supposedly will reduce "time for fix".
Can this be supported in OpenEtna? Is AMSS related to it?
Original comment by trmfrei...@gmail.com
on 9 Feb 2011 at 4:17
I also used the images not the kdz.
So do i need the update for the AMSS, or not?
I tried it yesterday sunny weather no cloud was visible, but no fix.
Original comment by andre%ma...@gtempaccount.com
on 10 Feb 2011 at 7:33
I am using the LG's official firmware (flashed using images)
And Gps works (Gps test). So i don't think that is necessary to update AMSS
using kdz
I had some problem whit NDrive (view

implementation of detecting fix and like this one other applications cude have

getting a fix first with google maps.
Original comment by trmfrei...@gmail.com

Also, I am using the official application. Could you please explain what you
did in order to solve the problem with the NDrive no fix?
Original comment by trmfrei...@gmail.com
on 10 Feb 2011 at 1:27
You start whit NDrive.apk file
Use the android-apktool to unpack the application an decompile to smali.
Them you will have to open this file smali/com/ndrive/android/GpsReceiver.smali
Replace:
Landroid/location/GpsSatellite;->usedInFix()Z
by
Landroid/location/GpsSatellite;->hasEphemeris()Z
Use the android-apktool to pack the application.
Use some tool to sine the apk (i use Apk Manager from XDA) and is done :)
PS: I send a email to NDrive about this.

Original comment by andre%ma...@gtempaccount.com

>Please explain why you say it's not working and what have you tried.
I'm saying that isn't working because neither GPS Test and GPS Status
applications can find any sattellites.
And there is no gps icon in the notification bar.
Btw, Google Maps app shows my location, but with 100-150 meters radius, it
seems my position is detected by cell towers and wi-fi access points, not by
GPS.
In the original froyo firmware everything was ok.
Original comment by emiron...@gmail.com
on 10 Feb 2011 at 7:57
If there is no GPS icon then GPS is not enabled probably.
Did you fastboot -w ?
Do you have GPS enabled in setting > locations ... ?

>Did you fastboot -w ?
Yes, before switching back from original froyo to OE i wiped my phone with
fastboot -w

Yes, of course!
Original comment by emiron...@gmail.com

Excuse me if you are feeling I am calling you idiot.
I am just trying to understand how you don't have the GPS icon enabled.
That's very strange.
Please enable GPS (if not already enabled), reboot phone, open google maps,
let it sit for a bit.
Obtain a logcat and a dmesg.
Original comment by trmfrei...@gmail.com

Could this be a reason that the Basbandversion is "unknown"?
With the original 2.2 is something like AMSS...
Original comment by andre%ma...@gtempaccount.com
on 11 Feb 2011 at 9:58
The GPS icon is a bit broken with lg's libgps. It's only shown when the gps
driver reports back for the first time.
I really think that this could have something to do with the AMSS.
You may try flashing http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5500141/10g+10uamss.cab with
version V10G_00 (howto is in the project page's wiki). Its the 10g firmware (so
it has fastboot) with the 10u's amss. Raburton stiched it together :-)
Updating did solve some gps related error for me.
The second thing is probably a change to the framework, which will be included
in the next version (if it's working).

Yay, it worked! Fix in 3 seconds!
I will release 6.3-rc6 in some minutes, which will include the fix to the
framework.
If that does not work, please provide an "adb logcat | grep libloc" from the
beginning of the boot until running google maps for some seconds.
I should be able to see from the log if the risk of updating the amss is
necessary.

Original comment by trmfrei...@gmail.com

It isn't working for me.
Once 1 saw one satellite and thats it.
@emiron
Is the GPS icon flashing in the statusbar?
Because the positioning via triangulation between the celltowers works for me,
but
if I use for an app for eg. GPS Status I can't see any satellite.
