Great. So that flashing bar, when it gets 'wide' (tall) it actually goes off of the top of the (display) screen... into the overscan.
I think this is what caused probem with PSPUAE, as the auto size would then try to compensate for that, but it sounds like the Y-centring is relying on a different value to work out what it is doing :)
The width, is pretty much the same, but i dont know how you could avoid it going off of the sides anyway
I compared with video recorded from real Amiga (so they say!) and even the bar going off the (left) side is there. I do have similar gameplay on my Pi.

I tried to disable/enable the h/v centering options from Amiberry and I didn't see any issue with this copper bar. I reckon I haven't spent 2h on that though so I may have missed something. Let me know if I have to investigate further.
No, i think it was a PSPUAE peculiarity. Maybe it will come up again if AMiberry ever gets auto-screen sizing, but for now, no problem
@HoraceAndTheSpider as per your request I've checked those games. I don't know any of these for sure hence I can't rely on my memory ;-)
You said: These games have a copper bar that changes size at the top. I remember with PSPUAE this use to play havoc with the auto-screen sizing option!
Below screensaves are what I see in Amiberry currently with horizontal/vertical centering set to ON. As far as I could tell you have the HUD on top with horizontal red flashing bar in the middle. It looks ok (no size change) yet this flashing bar overflows to both sides of the screen. Not sure it's expected yet it doesn't prevent to play the games (they're quite fun actually!!).
