Collecting the Fish Ranking Contest prize when two people are tied for first place will result in a reward of 12,500g.
According to wiki: "In the event of a tie, all players will receive an award and a new title with regard to their tier, but the prize money will be divided among the participants."
It appears that the 2nd place prize (25k) is being split instead of the 1st place prize (50k). This may be affecting ties for other ranks as well (3rd - 10k, 4th-10th - 1k, 11th-20th - no gil) but I don't have evidence for that.
