Can,t complete install procedure on a system without a Soundblaster compliant soundcard. #158

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I am writing this for Bruce, W8RA. I worked for Hewlett-Packaard for 25
years as a technical support person and I have been helping him try to get
his LP-PAN to work with his K3. I have a working LP-PAN using Windows 7
on my laptop and the EMU 0202 USB soundcard with a Yaesu FT-2000 and it
works very well. Bruce's system is a Quad-core 3.0 GHZ Intel DX38BT
motherboard with a chipset motherboard audio specification number 828011B
ICH9 also running a brand new installation of the Windows 7 Professional
O/S.
2. In addition, I have installed the EMU 1212 PCI based audiocard in
Bruces's system which is recommended by Larry N8LP for use with his LP-PAN
device. (We also tried my EMU 0202 USB soundcard with Bruces installation,
and no go with it either.)
After numberous attempts to properly install PowerSDR IQ I have determined
that the installation failure comes after the installation process looks
for and cannot find a Soundblaster 16 compliant sound card.
3.I believe that the XML database file created by the installation
procedure looks for and cannot find the soundblaster 16 card and will not
therefore bring up the initial PowerSDR IF setup screen. We can't change
the audio from the default to Bruce's EMU 1212 because we never get the
the initial (powered off) PowerSDR IF screen. Is there a way to manually
modify the XML file to properly initialize Bruces system and recognize the
EMU 1212?

What is the expected output? The initial setup screen.
What do you see instead? The application aborts and we never get to the
screen that allows us to change setup items.

What version of the product are you using? 1.19.3.4

On what operating system? Windows 7 Professional.

Please provide any additional information below.

You mentioned "PowerSDR IQ", which I want to make sure you really mean
PowerSDR/IF
Stage v1.19.3.4. You mention PowerSDR/IF and versino 1.19.3.4 after, so I
assume you
didn't mean to say the IQ version.

The Installer program only lays down files into the filessytem. The only thing
it
"looks" for is that .NET is installed before it installs the files. There is
nothing
related to soundcard verification, and specifically there is no requirement
anywhere
for a Soundblaster soundcard. PowerSDR uses Windows compliant drivers to access
the
soundcard and doesn't have or need knowledge of what soundcard it is.

You will need to be specific about the error and show screen shots or log
messages.
It sounds like the installer program did finish, and I think you are hitting a
problem starting PowerSDR/IF stage.
