Allow users to upload photos to your Flickr account #95

There are many plugins for WordPress that allow you to upload photos to Flickr
when creating a post or page. The photos then appear to be directly part of
your site even though they are hosted at Flickr. This feature request is to
enable Buddypress-Media to transparently upload a user's photo to Flickr if
they choose to do so.

[Why is this feature necessary? What shortcoming does it fix?]

This feature would allow administrators to scale their BuddyPress installation
further because storage and bandwidth for media is offloaded to Flickr.

[Are other social media websites implementing this feature? If so, provide
links to example sites.]

Many sites already use a Wordpress Flickr plugin to transparently upload photos
to their flickr account and then serve them remotely from Flickr. This plugin
is basically the same thing except front-end users would have their photos
uploaded to Flickr transparently.

[Is this feature relevant to many different kinds of websites? Explain
why?]

Yes. Every website could take advantage of the savings of using Flickr to store
all their photos.

Yes Please! I'm creating a community group website and this functionality is
something I've been searching for. Having users be able to upload to our
flickr photostream would be fantastic!

This article posts a how to on implementing it. I haven't tried it - will
soon, but it looks good: http://www.carlboettiger.info/wordpress/archives/3988

There's an old plugin that did that, someone could always grab the working code
and update it for current use.

I'll let you know if/when I get something working. I might go with another
image hosting service, there's several review pointing out great ones, they
just don't have near the options for wordpress plugins and integration.
