Avast Free Antivirus Moves Installer to Virus Chest #8

Looks like Avast is flagging the windows installer as "FileRepMalware", might want to reach out to them and see if you can get the installer white listed.

Thanks for the report! There's usually is not much I can do about stuff like this. Typically, you have to be a larger corporation and get the $300-600/year code signing certificate to bypass being flagged for file low reputation (typically based on amount of installs, not if your software is good or bad).

I looked into whitelisting with Avast and they offer a 60MB max file upload on their website (50MB false-positive upload), and no easy way to get FTP access. I will try again if I have time to. You probably have more control by submitting a report through Avast's software that the file is a false-positive. It's usually just not worth all the wasted time and effort, only to have to repeat this process again for the next installer version.

Hello,

thank you for your registration into our whitelisting program.

Unfortunately we can not accept your request because our program is intended for companies and their applications.

If you are a developer, please use your company email address.

In case you are trying to report false positive, please contact our support centre
https://support.avast.com/en-ww

Details about the whitelisting program can be found at

Have a nice day!

By the way, Avira Antivirus software is very good, with a free option (no monthly subscription). It might be worth it to switch Antivirus companies, if you want to send a message to them... ;-)

I reported it as false positive to them as well, and linked to this issue
