Reconsider location of local.simal.properties? #390

The location where this file is sought is user.home, meaning something like
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\local.simal.properties" on XP, and
~username/local.simal.properties on linux. This is kind of an annoying place to
look for the file, as the location depends on the user running it, and
"C:\Documents and Settings" is quite inconvenient to access.

Intuitively, I would just copy default.simal.properties to
local.simal.properties in the same directory - but no.

A service like this does not strike me as a "per user" service, but rather "per
system". Is it really likely that more than one user would want to run Simal
from the same directory, with different, personal settings?

You seem to be mistaken.

Properties are looked for in $SIMAL_HOME before being looked for in user home.
It only looks in the user home if no properties are found in $SIMAL_HOME
