I used the academic-admin tool to import publications automatically as written here.

Why did I get the authors' last names and initials in lowercase for all publications? A screenshot of the first two publications in a list

The generated markdown looks good

---
title: "Tunable Microwave Single-Photon Source Based on Transmon Qubit with High Efficiency"
date: 2020-03-01
publishDate: 2020-06-28T08:24:42.330115Z
authors: ["Yu Zhou", "Zhihui Peng", "Yuta Horiuchi", "O.V. Astafiev", "J.S. Tsai"]
publication_types: ["2"]
abstract: ""
featured: false
publication: "*Phys. Rev. Applied*"
url_pdf: "https://link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/PhysRevApplied.13.034007"
doi: "10.1103/PhysRevApplied.13.034007"

BibTex in the same folder

@article{PhysRevApplied.13.034007,
 author = {Zhou, Yu and Peng, Zhihui and Horiuchi, Yuta and Astafiev, O.V. and Tsai, J.S.},
 doi = {10.1103/PhysRevApplied.13.034007},
 issue = {3},
 journal = {Phys. Rev. Applied},
 month = {Mar},
 numpages = {11},
 pages = {034007},
 publisher = {American Physical Society},
 title = {Tunable Microwave Single-Photon Source Based on Transmon Qubit with High Efficiency},
 url = {https://link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/PhysRevApplied.13.034007},

}

How do I make all initial letters in names capital?

I had the same issue, updating Hugo solved it. See #1731
