Solder paste on the ground contact of the battery compartment doesn't re-flow well, probably because the battery holder itself acts a giant heat-sink. To fix that, we need to manually add solder to that area.
Other than that, the current design is good - it keep that contact event is the battery moves around.
An alternative design would be a very large contact, slightly larger than the area of the bottom part of the battery. With this design, even if you left the battery from its side, it will still keep the contact.
