IMHO, these days people might not need heavy or fancy annotation tools. In recent years, for vision cases, DINO, SAM, etc models can be used to get general purposes annotations on large-scale of datasets.
Further lightweight tools (such as LabelImg can be used to verify those outcomes, and possibly less amount of data may need to be annotated or modified. In that case, LabelImg can be a great and lightweight tool.
