If an event stretches over multiple days and no other event occurs on that day, the sidebar calendar will show no entries for that day. Also, if you use the arrows to move to that day it will show that entry but above it it is says:
"Sorry, no new events were found for today! Would you like to see the upcoming list of events?" I guess the first day of the event is the only one the calendar recognizes.
