I agree that the current version of the site leaves a lot to be desired (especially the styles lol).
However, if we set out to make a new and improved version, we need to decide on some principles and goals in advance. For example, we need to make sure that the interface remains simple [enough] and self explanatory, and that we don't run into the dreaded SecondSystemEffect.
Make a list of what features you feel are missing + things that need to be improved, and try to stick to that. In an ideal world Grandma should be able to figure out how to use this site :P.
Maybe most relevant is that this was actually already attempted before. Check out the Syllabase repository. It's not currently deployed and I'm not sure to what extent it's complete, so any help with that would be appreciated. Let me know what you think.
That syllabase repo is a good proj but I wana do it differently but thats an arch issue more than anything so that doesn't matter.
But yes a list of features and simple use should be the goal.
Currently i want the following features to be implemented: search direct upload allow users to tag syllabi multiple different departments
Currently the site is good but there is so much stuff that could be and improve use but current setup feels bad to work on. I propose we do a complete rewrite from scratch and use some other modern framework instead of jekyll
